Theia Ventures has led a pre-seed investment round for Lemnisca, a Bio-AI company developing intelligent systems to scale biomanufacturing. The funding, which also saw participation from PointOne Capital and Dr. Satakarni Makkapati, will accelerate the development of Lemnisca’s artificial intelligence platform. The investment will support the expansion of the company’s Bengaluru lab, technology development, and early-scale pilot programs focused on enabling sustainable industrial bioproduction.
Lemnisca is creating an AI companion for fermentation processes, designed to help manufacturers scale bioprocesses with greater speed, predictability, and efficiency. As industries increasingly turn to renewable feedstocks and biological alternatives to petrochemicals, the ability to reliably scale biomanufacturing from the lab to industrial production has become a critical challenge. Lemnisca’s platform integrates wet-lab experimentation with dry-lab modeling to better understand process biology and guide production in real time. The company aims to reduce development timelines by up to 50 percent, improve operating efficiency by 25 percent, and facilitate the adoption of renewable and waste-carbon feedstocks. To achieve these goals, Lemnisca is actively seeking pilot collaborations and strategic partnerships with contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs), original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and global ingredient brands.
This marks the third investment from Theia Ventures’ new fund, which was recently anchored by British International Investment. The fund’s portfolio also includes Climitra Carbon, a biocharBiochar is a carbon-rich material created from biomass decomposition in low-oxygen conditions. It has important applications in environmental remediation, soil improvement, agriculture, carbon sequestration, energy storage, and sustainable materials, promoting efficiency and reducing waste in various contexts while addressing climate change challenges. More company that caters to the steel industry, underscoring Theia’s commitment to supporting technologies that promote sustainable industrial production. Lemnisca’s focus on a digital operating system for biomanufacturing is intended to make the process smarter, faster, and more accessible on a global scale.
