Australia-based NoviqTech Limited, through its subsidiary Coralia, has executed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with A Healthier Earth, the climate-tech research arm of Pure Data Centres Group. The agreement establishes a framework to evaluate a long-term carbon credit offtake covering a minimum of 70 percent of the biochar carbon removal credits generated by Coralia’s flagship Great Barrier Reef Biochar Project in Queensland, Australia. Beyond credit commercialization, the partnership encompasses site production trials and explores a potential joint venture to construct a dedicated biochar production facility.

The collaboration addresses the escalating carbon footprint of hyperscale data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure, which demand high-integrity, durable carbon dioxide removal solutions to satisfy corporate decarbonization targets. Concurrently, regional landscapes in Queensland suffer from extensive degradation caused by invasive woody weed species, which undermine agricultural productivity and increase harmful sediment runoff into the Great Barrier Reef. Traditional land management approaches have struggled to control these invasive species efficiently while securing the capital necessary for large-scale carbon removal projects.

To resolve these environmental and corporate decarbonization challenges, Coralia and A Healthier Earth are combining regional project development with established carbon market expertise. Under the 12-month MOU, the entities will conduct on-site production trials to process invasive biomass into high-quality biochar, deploying NoviqTech’s digital reporting infrastructure for verification. A Healthier Earth will utilize its commercialization network to structure credit sales and assess co-development of a processing facility, converting agricultural waste into certified carbon removal credits.

The agreement provides a clear pathway toward commercialization for Coralia’s project, which aims to process two million tonnes of agricultural biomass waste and generate 550,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide removal credits over its operational lifespan. Securing a long-term assessment for 70 percent of credit volume strengthens project bankability, supports land remediation across regional Australia, and supplies institutional data center operators with verifiable carbon removals.
