Bolivian biochar producer Exomad Green and digital carbon infrastructure provider Carbonfuture have expanded their commercial partnership to make over 1.1 million tonnes of biochar carbon removal available to corporate buyers through 2035. The agreement adds to more than 1.2 million tonnes already contracted under existing multi-year arrangements between the two entities. Carbonfuture provides the digital monitoring, tracking, and credit issuance framework for the supply, while Exomad Green manufactures the biochar by processing forestry and sawmill waste at its facilities in Bolivia.

The agreement directly addresses a major institutional challenge in the voluntary carbon market: the scarcity of high-quality, independently verifiable biochar carbon removal options capable of meeting stringent corporate delivery standards. While hundreds of biochar projects are currently in development globally, third-party evaluations indicate that only a small fraction possess the necessary operational rigor, consistent feedstock sourcing, and robust measurement protocols. Consequently, corporate credit purchasers increasingly encounter procurement bottlenecks when attempting to secure transparent, physically delivered volume rather than speculative future capacity.

To resolve this supply-quality deficit, Exomad Green leverages industrial pyrolysis facilities certified under the Puro Standard’s Biochar Methodology, converting agricultural and timber waste into stable biochar while offering the material to local farmers to improve soil health. Carbonfuture integrates these operations into its digital platform, providing end-to-end data transparency and lifecycle tracking for institutional buyers. This operational pairing enables the continuous verification and structured offtake of heavy volume, bypassing the spot market and guaranteeing long-term delivery timelines through standardized digital verification.

As a result of this collaboration, Exomad Green has solidified its position as a primary global supplier of delivered durable carbon removal, having already physically delivered more than 400,000 tonnes of CDR to date. The expanded multi-year commitment guarantees corporate buyers predictable access to verified carbon removal credits through 2035. Furthermore, the contract structure highlights a broader market movement toward long-term offtake agreements, helping stabilize supply chains for institutional credit buyers while providing scalable project finance for industrial biochar operations in South America.
