The central challenge confronting biofuel producers involves reducing life-cycle carbon intensity scores to maintain market competitiveness and satisfy stringent environmental mandates. Capturing and permanently isolating biogenic carbon emissions requires navigating complex economic calculations, capital-intensive infrastructure deployments, and evolving regulatory frameworks surrounding underground injection wells.
