Niutech Technology Group Co. Ltd. has signed a sales contract with an undisclosed global energy major to deliver an industrial continuous waste plastic pyrolysisPyrolysis is a thermochemical process that converts waste biomass into bio-char, bio-oil, and pyro-gas. It offers significant advantages in waste valorization, turning low-value materials into economically valuable resources. Its versatility allows for tailored products based on operational conditions, presenting itself as a cost-effective and efficient More production line. Based in China, Niutech will provide continuous equipment featuring a single-unit processing capacity of 10,000 to 50,000 tons per year to upgrade one of the customer’s large-scale petroleum refineries. This integration marks Niutech’s formal entry into the energy major’s equipment supply chain, enabling an end-to-end processing pathway that converts waste plastic pyrolysis oil into hydrotreated sustainable aviation fuel.
The agreement addresses the critical supply shortages facing the aviation sector as it works to satisfy escalating decarbonization mandates, such as the European Union’s ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation. Traditional feedstockFeedstock refers to the raw organic material used to produce biochar. This can include a wide range of materials, such as wood chips, agricultural residues, and animal manure. More supply, such as used cooking oil, remains constrained globally, forcing refiners to seek secondary feedstock options. Furthermore, standard advanced recycling operations often encounter difficulties when processing low-value, mixed waste plastics, which typically require intensive preprocessing like washing, sorting, drying, and fine shredding before entering continuous reactors.
To overcome these raw material and operational challenges, Niutech deployed its proprietary continuous industrial pyrolysis technology. The continuous processing system handles various low-value, unwashed waste plastics—including polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, and nylon—in either single-type or mixed streams without complex preparation. The automated reactor converts these feedstocks directly into high-yield pyrolysis oil suited for downstream refining into hydrotreated aviation fuel, alongside non-condensable gas and solid carbon residues.
The deployment creates a scalable commercial pathway for plastic-to-fuel refining while expanding continuous thermal conversion infrastructure into global energy major supply chains. The technology provides a high-throughput processing alternative for low-value plastic waste that cannot be easily processed via traditional mechanical recycling. The project builds on Niutech’s established industrial deployments across China, the United Kingdom, Denmark, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam, further validating multi-thousand-ton continuous pyrolysis lines within municipal and industrial energy systems.
