Bolivia-based biocharBiochar is a carbon-rich material created from biomass decomposition in low-oxygen conditions. It has important applications in environmental remediation, soil improvement, agriculture, carbon sequestration, energy storage, and sustainable materials, promoting efficiency and reducing waste in various contexts while addressing climate change challenges. More producer Exomad Green has expanded its Concepción production site, advancing toward its goal of removing 800,000 tonnes of CO2 by 2027. The upgrade will double the site’s biochar production capacity from 60,000 tonnes to 120,000 tonnes per year by 2025, reinforcing Exomad’s commitment to scalable carbon removal.
This expansion is part of a broader strategy that includes enhancing capacity at the company’s Riberalta site and constructing three new facilities by 2027. The first of these is slated to open in Guarayos by 2026. Earlier this year, Exomad supplied 50% of all biochar-based carbon removal credits globally, highlighting its significant market presence.
Beyond carbon removal, Exomad emphasizes community and environmental benefits. It distributes biochar free to local farmers, improving soil health and crop yields. The company also supports regional development through education, healthcare, and job creation programs in rural Bolivia.
With these initiatives and its ongoing expansion, Exomad Green is positioning itself as a global leader in the biochar industry, combining impactful carbon removal with tangible local benefits.
