BluSky Carbon Inc. has secured a master services agreement with Scotia BioChar Inc. to supply equipment and consulting services for biochar production in Eastern Canada. Scotia BioChar, based in Bedford, Nova Scotia, aims to transform waste wood biomass, including an estimated 20 million tonnes of fallen trees from Hurricane Fiona, into high-quality biochar. This initiative seeks to support multiple regional applications, from agricultural improvements to environmental remediation and water treatment.

Under the one-year agreement, Scotia will issue Statements of Work (SOW) to BluSky, outlining specific equipment or service needs for each project. The partnership grants BluSky exclusive rights to supply Scotia’s biochar production requirements and aligns both companies on accelerating sustainable carbon removal technologies.

Scotia BioChar’s leadership, including Co-Founder Liz MacKenzie and Vice President Francis MacKenzie, bring extensive experience in industrial project management and carbon-focused innovations. They have collectively secured $3.6 million in project funding, paving the way for substantial biochar deployment in Nova Scotia.

BluSky’s CEO, Will Hessert, is enthusiastic about the collaboration, highlighting Scotia BioChar’s progress toward establishing a production facility and deepening knowledge in biochar technology. This partnership supports BluSky’s mission to reduce CO2 emissions through carbon capture solutions, with aims to sell biochar and generate carbon credits.

The agreement marks a significant step toward eco-focused industrial development in Eastern Canada, aiming to provide both economic and environmental benefits to the region.
