Exomad Green has officially launched construction on a new biochar facility in Bolivia’s Guarayos Region, which is projected to become the largest of its kind globally. The project enters its first phase with an expected completion timeline of mid-2026. By that time, the facility will operate eight biochar reactors, removing an estimated 160,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide and producing 64,000 tonnes of biochar annually.

A second phase of expansion is planned for later in 2026, doubling the number of reactors to 16. This will enable the facility to reach a projected annual capacity of 320,000 tonnes of CO₂ removal and 128,000 tonnes of biochar production.

The Guarayos site is part of Exomad Green’s broader strategy to scale its carbon removal efforts. In 2024, the company initiated upgrades to its existing biochar facilities in Concepción and Riberalta, and it plans to construct three new sites by 2027. These combined efforts support Exomad’s goal of removing 800,000 tonnes of CO₂ by that year.

Beyond carbon sequestration, the company emphasizes ecological restoration and local development. It distributes biochar to nearby farmers and Indigenous communities to rehabilitate degraded soils and improve agricultural resilience. The facility is also expected to generate new employment opportunities, contributing to economic development in the region.

Exomad Green’s expansion reflects a growing commitment to integrated climate solutions that couple emissions reduction with social and environmental regeneration.
