Biomass Magazine has officially announced that the 19th annual International Biomass Conference & Expo will take place in Nashville, Tennessee, from March 31 to April 2, 2026. This premier event, hosted at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, is set to gather nearly 1,000 attendees, solidifying its position as a central hub for innovation, collaboration, and deal-making in the bioenergy sector. The conference’s focus on advancing biobased technologies highlights the growing importance of renewable, clean energy sources.

The conference agenda will be comprehensive, covering a broad spectrum of bioenergy innovations. Discussions will span critical topics such as pellet production, biomass power, biogas, renewable natural gas (RNG), and the increasingly important sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and hydrogen. This diverse range of subjects underscores the industry’s multifaceted approach to decarbonization and energy security. The call for speaker abstracts is open until November 21, inviting experts to share insights on everything from feedstock sustainability to maximizing boiler performance.

For the biochar industry, this conference is a significant development. While biochar is not the primary focus, its deep connections to the topics being discussed mean that the event’s outcomes could have a ripple effect. The advancements in biomass feedstock tracking and sustainability requirements, for example, are directly relevant to biochar producers who rely on similar agricultural and forestry waste streams. Similarly, improvements in biomass power and syngas production technologies could open new avenues for integrated facilities that produce both bioenergy and biochar, optimizing resource utilization and creating new revenue streams. The emphasis on clean energy and sustainability at the conference serves to elevate the entire bio-based economy, providing a valuable platform for biochar to gain further recognition as a key player in carbon sequestration and soil enhancement.
