ArborX Inc., a clean technology company that transforms wood debris into biocharBiochar is a carbon-rich material created from biomass decomposition in low-oxygen conditions. It has important applications in environmental remediation, soil improvement, agriculture, carbon sequestration, energy storage, and sustainable materials, promoting efficiency and reducing waste in various contexts while addressing climate change challenges. More, will establish its headquarters in Immokalee, Florida. The company plans to create 14 new jobs and invest $2.5 million in its facility. Collier County approved $49,000 in job incentives under its Basic Industry Growth Promotion Incentive Program to support the project.
ArborX, originally incorporated in Delaware in 2023 and registered in Florida in April 2024, processes wood waste into biochar, a sustainable material used in agriculture, water treatment, and air filtration. The company aims to improve waste management through its advanced recycling methods and drop-off sites for wood waste collection.
The new facility will be located on nearly 12 acres at 2951 State Route 29. The county’s agreement requires ArborX to create five jobs in the first year, with additional hires over four years. Each position will pay at least $50,654 annually. The company will also contribute $5,000 to county waste disposal efforts.
Collier County’s incentive program, established in 2013, encourages job growth and economic diversification. ArborX qualifies for a $500-per-job bonus due to its environmental focus. The county estimates that by year four, the project will generate $900,000 in earnings and create 18 direct and indirect jobs.
County officials will monitor ArborX’s progress, ensuring compliance with tax and payroll requirements. Annual reports on the project’s development will be publicly available. ArborX is expected to provide further details on job openings and launch timelines next month.
