SWVA BiocharBiochar is a carbon-rich material created from biomass decomposition in low-oxygen conditions. It has important applications in environmental remediation, soil improvement, agriculture, carbon sequestration, energy storage, and sustainable materials, promoting efficiency and reducing waste in various contexts while addressing climate change challenges. More, co-founded by Jeff Wade and Jack Wall in Floyd, Virginia, transforms local waste wood into high-quality biochar. Inspired by regenerative agriculture, they embraced Biochar Now’s advanced kiln technology to create a carbon-negative product beneficial for soil health. Their kilns, operational since 2022, utilize waste wood from various sources, including local logging sites and old railroad ties. Beyond improving soil, biochar serves in water filtration and potentially in battery manufacturing. With plans for expansion, SWVA Biochar aims to enhance composting capabilities, further utilizing local waste and boosting soil health.
