BluSky Carbon Inc. has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for a $192 million biochar project in Northwest Arkansas. This initiative, dubbed the AR2 project, builds on BluSky’s prior $105 million AR1 project and focuses on producing biochar for agricultural and land remediation purposes.

Under the agreement, BluSky plans to supply a U.S.-based purchaser with 70,000 tons of biochar annually for 10 years at $275 per ton. However, fulfilling this commitment depends on BluSky commissioning five Vulcan Heavy biomass pyrolysis systems, contingent upon securing financing and finalizing a definitive agreement.

The AR2 project also includes a 25-year lease offer for a strategic site and a biomass feedstock proposal to supply up to 500,000 tons annually from forestry waste. These arrangements could support future scalability but are subject to financing and definitive agreements.

Biochar, produced through pyrolysis of organic materials, is valued for its carbon sequestration potential and soil enhancement benefits. Its production aligns with BluSky’s mission to convert waste into carbon-neutral products.

CEO Will Hessert highlights growing interest in BluSky’s carbon reduction technologies, reflecting broader industry momentum. The AR2 project, if realized, will support sustainable carbon removal and bolster BluSky’s role in the clean technology sector.
