The US BiocharBiochar is a carbon-rich material created from biomass decomposition in low-oxygen conditions. It has important applications in environmental remediation, soil improvement, agriculture, carbon sequestration, energy storage, and sustainable materials, promoting efficiency and reducing waste in various contexts while addressing climate change challenges. More Initiative (USBI), operating through the US Biochar Coalition/USBI 501(c)(3) nonprofit umbrella, has issued an industry-wide call for corporate sponsorship and exhibitor support ahead of the upcoming North American Biochar Conference in New Orleans, United States. Scheduled for November 16–18 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the event relies directly on commercial contributions and registration fees to cover operational overhead. Organizers report a remaining shortfall of $100,000 against their targeted sponsorship and exhibitor funding goal.
The core challenge confronting the organization stems from the financial structure of hosting large-scale, non-profit trade conferences within the emerging biocarbon sector. Operating as a 501(c)(3) entity, the hosting organization faces fixed venue and logistical expenses that must be fully underwritten by industry stakeholders prior to execution. Without securing the remaining capital commitments, non-profit organizers risk operational deficits or structural constraints that could impact the scale and long-term continuity of future industry gatherings.
To bridge the financial gap, the hosting organization opened multiple involvement pathways for commercial vendors, equipment manufacturers, and industry participants. Sponsorship tiers range from $3,500 for coffee breaks to $25,000 for presenting partner status, with mid-to-high tiers incorporating exhibit spaces and complimentary delegate passes. Concurrently, dedicated 10×10 exhibition booths are priced between $2,500 and $2,750, complemented by full delegate access and discounted staff passes to encourage commercial representation on the trade floor.
The anticipated outcomes of this initiative include securing necessary funding to ensure the execution of the North American Biochar Conference while fostering commercial networking across the biocarbon value chain. Providing structured exhibition tiers allows technology providers and project developers to gain market visibility among industry delegates. Ultimately, achieving the $100,000 funding target stabilizes event operations and supports the long-term financial viability of non-profit industry convenings.
