The International BiocharBiochar is a carbon-rich material created from biomass decomposition in low-oxygen conditions. It has important applications in environmental remediation, soil improvement, agriculture, carbon sequestration, energy storage, and sustainable materials, promoting efficiency and reducing waste in various contexts while addressing climate change challenges. More Initiative (IBI) is partnering with Japan’s agri-tech startup, TOWING, to host the Global Biochar Exchange + Field Day in Nagoya, Japan. This event, taking place from April 22–23, 2025, with optional tours on April 24–25, will bring together experts to discuss biochar’s role in sustainability and circular economies.
The conference will highlight biochar and circularity, biochar in agriculture, carbon markets and insetting, and Japan and Asia’s carbon initiatives. In addition to research presentations, the event will serve as a platform for networking and collaboration, particularly between Asian and North American biochar markets.
STATION Ai, Japan’s largest open innovation hub in Nagoya, will host the event. This dynamic space fosters startup growth and collaboration, providing facilities such as tech labs, event spaces, and co-working offices.
Attendees will gain insights into biochar innovations and sustainability practices in Asia, connect with industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers, and explore Japan’s biochar initiatives and emerging carbon markets. For biochar professionals and stakeholders, this event offers a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge, expand networks, and drive innovation in the biochar industry.
