Green Valley Biochar and Bton Group have initiated a partnership to promote sustainable construction in the GCC region, focusing on the integration of biochar into concrete production. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), represents a pivotal move towards greener building practices.

Biochar, traditionally used for soil enhancement due to its carbon-sinking properties, will now play a crucial role in concrete production. Bton Group has developed a method to incorporate biochar into concrete without compromising its integrity. This innovation not only enhances the durability of the concrete but also makes it climate positive by achieving over 100% CO2 savings.

Under the MOU, Green Valley will handle the production and supply of biochar, managing pyrolysis plants and securing biomass. Bton Group will utilize this biochar to produce eco-friendly concrete. This strategic partnership is expected to significantly impact the construction ecosystem in the region, providing sustainable solutions and opening new markets for both companies.

For Bton Group, the demand for biochar will necessitate the establishment of multiple new plants, aiding their expansion plans in the GCC. This move will also ensure a stable supply of sustainable concrete for developers and construction companies, promoting large-scale climate positive solutions.

The collaboration will initially focus on the UAE but will expand across the GCC, including significant developments in Saudi Arabia where Bton plans to set up additional plants. This initiative marks a major step towards achieving net-zero goals in the region and underscores the importance of innovative, technology-driven circular solutions in sustainable construction.
