This method can decrease the volume of waste by up to 90%, addressing both disposal challenges and pollution caused by traditional mulching. The Falls Township Supervisors voted unanimously in favor of the project, acknowledging the environmental benefits of reducing waste and the eco-friendly nature of biochar.

Once operational, the facility will process up to 15 tons of wood and landscape material per hour and is expected to create five to seven jobs. Despite concerns about woodlands on the property, officials are confident that the development will maintain visual buffers and include necessary fire protection systems.

The facility’s technology has been endorsed by several federal agencies, including FEMA and the EPA, marking it as a promising solution for sustainable waste management. Falls Township is optimistic about the facility’s impact, seeing it as a green initiative that will benefit the community and environment alike.
