Biochar is inviting submissions for three special issues that explore the diverse applications of biocharBiochar is a carbon-rich material created from biomass decomposition in low-oxygen conditions. It has important applications in environmental remediation, soil improvement, agriculture, carbon sequestration, energy storage, and sustainable materials, promoting efficiency and reducing waste in various contexts while addressing climate change challenges. More in sustainable development.
The first special issue, titled “Biochar in BRICS Countries: Fostering Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Solutions,” welcomes contributions from researchers in Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. This issue seeks to showcase the potential of biochar in addressing agricultural challenges and environmental concerns specific to these rapidly developing nations. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2024.
The second special issue, “Emerging Inorganic Pollutants: Remediation Strategies Using Biochar,” delves into the use of biochar for removing novel and emerging contaminants from soil and water. This issue aims to gather and disseminate knowledge on biochar’s effectiveness in tackling these new threats to environmental and human health. Researchers worldwide are invited to submit their findings by April 30, 2024.
The third and final special issue, “Biochar for Environmental and Energy Sustainability,” focuses on the broader applications of biochar in promoting environmental sustainability and mitigating climate change. This issue welcomes contributions exploring biochar’s role in areas such as renewable energy generation, carbon sequestration, and waste management. The deadline for submissions for this issue is August 30, 2024.
These special issues provide valuable platforms for researchers to share their knowledge and insights on the multifaceted potential of biochar. By promoting the use of this sustainable material, the Biochar Journal hopes to contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future for our planet.
Researchers working on any aspect of biochar’s applications in sustainable development should strongly consider submitting their manuscripts for consideration.
