The Centre for Management Technology (CMT Events) has officially announced the upcoming DeCarbon Tokyo 2026 summit, scheduled to take place from December 1–3, 2026, at the Tokyo Marriott Hotel. The three-day international conference aims to convene over 400 senior executives, policymakers, and industry leaders from Japan and the wider Asia-Pacific region to address the accelerating implementation of Japan’s Green Transformation (GX) policies, compliance carbon markets, and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) portfolios.

A primary challenge confronting industrial sectors across the region is the complexity of scaling transition pathways while simultaneously aligning with evolving compliance mechanisms, such as the GX-ETS (Green Transformation Emissions Trading Scheme) and international market integrity standards. Organizations frequently encounter operational bottlenecks when transitioning from corporate net-zero pledges to actionable deployment, particularly regarding transparent measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) frameworks, regulatory uncertainty in cross-border carbon procurement, and the financing of capital-intensive clean technologies.

To resolve these structural hurdles, the summit is structured around three core, sequential themes—Reduce, Regulate, and Remove—providing a comprehensive framework for corporate decarbonization. Day one focuses on industrial decarbonization, energy transition, and carbon management, including carbon capture and storage (CCS) infrastructure and superpollutant mitigation. Day two addresses compliance and voluntary carbon markets, market integrity, and international developments like Article 6, supplemented by a dedicated Buyers Primer Forum for corporate buyers. Day three explores durable and nature-based carbon removals, examining procurement pathways, certification, permanence, and commercial-scale implementation.

The initiative provides key stakeholders with strategic insights and direct access to public-private partnerships necessary for navigating Asia’s evolving carbon ecosystem. By fostering cross-sector dialogue among project developers, investors, and standards bodies, DeCarbon Tokyo 2026 establishes a collaborative foundation for advancing high-integrity carbon markets and robust industrial decarbonization roadmaps.
