Hosted in partnership with the Italian Biochar Association (ICHAR), the Study Tour from the International Biochar Initiative (IBI) will provide attendees with real-world experience through sightseeing innovative and versatile biocharBiochar is a carbon-rich material created from biomass decomposition in low-oxygen conditions. It has important applications in environmental remediation, soil improvement, agriculture, carbon sequestration, energy storage, and sustainable materials, promoting efficiency and reducing waste in various contexts while addressing climate change challenges. More projects on vineyards in Italy’s Chiantishire.
From 16-18 October, participants will observe and discuss how biochar increases vineyard production without affecting the grape quality and contributes to mitigate the effects of climate change, all while increasing the soil fertility in terms of chemical, physical, and biological characteristics.
With space for only 80 participants, IBI anticipates the interest level to be high for this unique, place-based biochar education opportunity!
